Providing a hot lunch in the municipality of Shumen

The project envisages upgrading and extending the current national program to support public dining rooms, financed by the state budget through Social Protection fund. The activities covered by the project include the definition of target groups, buying food, providing hot meals and accompanying measures. Target groups for this project will be: individuals and families on monthly support under the terms and conditions of Art. 9 of the Regulations for the implementation of the Social Assistance Act; persons with proven lack of income and relatives to take care of them established by the "Social Assistance" - Shumen; single people and families receiving minimum pensions - retirement and age; disability; survivors' pensions; pensions not related to work; wandering and homeless children and people. A commission formed by the Mayor of Shumen Municipality will conduct the determination of the target groups. The Commission will make its selection based on lists provided by the Social Assistance Directorate - Shumen. Hot lunch will be prepared and provided in the premises of the existing public dining room to 120 individuals from the target groups. In order to overcome the social exclusion, the users of the service "Public dining room" will be informed and consulted about the availability of other social services in the municipality, the use of administrative municipal services for managing of the family budget. Brochures informing the consumers about the healthy and balanced diet will be prepared, and lectures on this topic will be organized. If necessary, will be applied other forms of support, assistance, individual or group counselling, will be implemented in response to identified specific needs and concerns of the representatives of the target groups.
