The project’s aim is to offer support to people in need of social assistance, to people in mandatory quarantine, to disabled people in need of nursing services and elderly people put at financial risk during the COVID-19 epidemic. The project will help the listed groups of people (the ones most affected by COVID-19 and people in quarantine) who live at home to overcome the restrictions. In this situation the local authorities are supposed to adapt and make services with an aim to prevent the spreading of the virus and offer support to those in need of it. The plan of the project is: determining the groups, having a catering make the lunch (soup, main course, bread and at least once a week a dessert), distributing the meals to the consumers and realising preventive measures in a sustainable way. These measures are now a part of the warm lunch project and are therefore expressed through individual consulting with the consumers and assisting them if needed. It is expected that the project will have 80 consumers, all of whom live on the territory of the Iskar District. The project’s duration is 9 months. The distribution of the warm lunch will be consistent with the COVID-19 preventive measures and the consumers’ specific needs. The Iskar District’s expectations are that in the future, after the state of emergency comes to an end, the food will be distributed at a designated for this purpose station. The practice of giving away warm lunch has been carried out since the start of the “Community kitchen” project in 2013 and continued up until the announcement of the country’s state of emergency.
