3.1 - Hot lunch during the COVID-19 pandemic in Sofia Municipality - “Nadezhda“ district

Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, providing a warm meal has turned out to be significant aid. It is with this help that there is a real possibility for the poorest and most vulnerable residents of “Nadezhda” district to continue having the food they need. Moreover, to have it delivered to their homes. By carrying out this contract, the district will elaborate and expand on all completed projects, in the field of social integration. The number of consumers that will be able to make use of this service is 250. The groups, eligible for this project, are: 1.Individuals with no income or income below the poverty line; individuals experiencing difficulties due to the worsened economic state of the country; people, which due to their age and/or disabilities are in higher risk of contracting the disease with unfavorable course of infection.2.Individuals, eligible for the social benefits, for whom the need for additional aid has been identified and in the conditions of an emergency epidemic situation are unable to satisfy their basic living needs. All activities will be carried out in compliance with all requirements when applying to the procedure. Apart from determining the eligibility of the individuals within targeted groups, preparing the hot meals and their distribution, “Nadezhda” district acting as a beneficiary will provide activities and measures to support the consumers, as well as means, with which to avoid food waste. The regional administration will carry out measures to receive feedback from the consumers, which aim for constructive criticism on the work done and to provide guidelines for further development of the planned activities. With the implementation of activities aimed at overcoming the main material deprivation - food shortage, the effective scope of the social assistance programs, which the regional administration has implemented so far, will expand. By doing so, the quality of life will increase, which will reduce the number of people living in poverty.
