Fundamental Translational and Clinical Investigations on Infections and Immunity

The strategic task of the future Center of competence “FundamentalTranslationalandClinicalInvestigationsonInfectionsandImmunity “ is to provide a quick and efficient transfer of fundamental research data on infections and immunity into the clinical practice for individual and public health purposes. Our ambition is to establish unique of its kind for Bulgaria research complex, in compliance with the best European and world standards and practices, with a well-defined structure and organization, and sufficient critical mass of leading and young scientists and technical personnel. This strategy will be achieved through substantial renovation of the existing infrastructure, and the realization of an important package of research programs in the following areas: - Precise and exhaustive definition of etiological agents in the host and environment - Molecular-epidemiological analysis of socially significant infectious diseases - Studying the role of host’s genetic and immune “background” for the development of infectious and post-infectious pathology.
