Establishment and Development of a Center of Competence "Quantum Communication, Intelligent Security Systems and Risk Management" (Quasar)

In the framework of the present project a Center of Competence (CoC) will be created, which will combine the material, technical and human capacity of 8 organizations (3 institutes of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and 4 universities, as well as a non-governmental organization). Such a CoC, unifying the subject matter as described in its title is missing both in the EU and in Bulgaria. This is a clear niche which owing to the capacity of the partners will become a leading trend with a multidisciplinary importance. The expertise of scientists and specialists involved in this CoC will allow the creation of innovative space in the object area of CoE with new ideas, patents for inventions and prototypes of original products and systems. The Center of Competence combining advanced trends, such as quantum communication, sensorics and risk management through intelligent systems is of multidisciplinary importance. It will be a generator of new ideas that will be protected by patents and subsequently transferred to the business as specific engineering solutions with a clear market impact. The leadership role of the established research project team has demonstrated its potential and capabilities. The project will be implemented in 4 work packages: 1. Work Package 1. Quantum Communication 2. Work Package 2. Intelligent Security Systems 3. Work Package №3. Risk Management 4. Work Package 4. Innovative sensor technologies with multi-purpose application The project will be implemented within 60 months (5 years) as part of activities within the work packages will be continued within 10 years.
