Clean technologies for sustainable environment – water, waste, energy for circular economy

The project of the Centre of Competence focuses on building effective functioning infrastructure on modular principles in 1/ control, purification, water management 2/ processing, recycling, recovery and disposal of solid waste 3/ Implementation of resource and energy efficient economy by obtaining renewable and alternative sources of energy, materials and resources 4/ Encouraging innovation in technologies for sustainable environment and circular economy 5/ Development and realization of the entrepreneurship of young specialists in the above areas Partners of the Centre of Competence are: Sofia University, University of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy, University of Forestry, Burgas University, Institute of Physical Chemistry, Institute of Organic Chemistry with Centre of Phytochemistry, Institute of Microbiology at BAS, Cleantech Bulgaria Foundation. Associated partners are: Municipality of Sofia, Metropolitan company for waste treatment, Sofiyska Voda AD, Interplast BG, Energy Agency-Plovdiv, University of Modena, Italy The centre will be built on three vertical modules - "Water", "Solid Waste" and "Transfer" and there will be four horizontal priorities: "eco-efficiency": Developing innovations for efficient use of technology; "Energy": Production of renewable and alternative energy sources; "Restoring resources": Production of chemical elements plant and feed stock from waste and sewage; "Alternative Resources": Production of new nano-materials and composites from waste In the Centre of Competence will be carried out advanced research to create products, services and clean technologies with high resource and energy efficiency and significant economic, social and environmental added value In the module "Transfer" plan training, dissemination, transfer and commercialization of technologies and technology entrepreneurship. Planned large-scale educational and training programs for students graduate from business and academic institutions
