Internships for students from vocational schools

This project proposal complements and further develops the ongoing Grant operation BG051PO001-3.3.07-0001 Internships for students from vocational schools within the scope of Human Resources Development Operational Programme 2007-2013. As a result, more than 46 000 internships were successfully completed. In the period until 2017, the already approved procedures, web-platform, control systems and mechanisms for implementation of internships in the vocational schools, built between 2013 and 2015, will be further developed and implemented. The project proposal is fully in line with the underlying European and national targets to improve the access and the quality of the vocational education and training according to the needs of the economy and the changes in the labour market. The goal of improving the compatibility of the vocational education and the business requirements to facilitate the transition from education to employment is set in Europe 2020 and the National Development Programme Bulgaria 2020. Educational outcomes should be tailored primarily to the needs of the regional and local labour market. One of the main challenges outlined in the Strategy for the Development of Vocational Education and Training in the Republic of Bulgaria for the period 2015-2020 are: making initial vocational and continuous training an attractive learning opportunity; providing flexible access to training and qualification; increasing the number of students in vocational schools.
