THE ENHANCEMENT OF UNWE RESEARCH POTENTIAL AND THE IMPROVEMENT OF THE CONDITIONS FOR CONDUCTING RESEARCH - AN INVESTMENT WITH SEVERAL DIMENSIONS

The successful realization of the European Research Area (ERA) is an important element of the achievement of Europe 2020 Strategy objectives. The 2014 Progress Report on ERA establishment defines the main action lines to be implemented at European, national and institutional level in order to complete a single area for knowledge, research and innovation. Against that background, the objective of this project is to develop the scientific research potential of the University of National and World Economy as a step towards its transformation into a center of excellence in teaching, research, and innovation. The specific objectives are: -To improve students’ and doctoral students’ training in order to provide for their successful professional realization; - To further develop the qualification of the academic staff in compliance with the requirements of present-day science and information technologies; - To create a stimulating environment for effective research activities. The project addresses the identified needs of the following target groups: students, doctoral students, post docs, young scientists and lecturers. In order to meet its objectives, the project will implement the following activities: training for the development and improvement of transferable skills, provision of opportunities for research mobility, encouragement of scientific knowledge dissemination and provision of access to advanced scientific knowledge. Through the activities described above the following results will be obtained: a stimulating environment for effective research will be established; the young generation of researchers will develop their skills for individual scientific activities; research quality will be increased; the academic content of courses delivered will be improved; research results will be widely disseminated within the international scientific community; the attractiveness of the research career will increase.
