Creation and development of young high-qualified scientists and lecturers for innovative interdisciplinary research of great importance for biomedicine

The current proposal will be carried out 21 months by the Institute of Experimental Morphology, Pathology and Anthropology with Museum, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences as Beneficiary and by Faculty of Biology and Faculty of Chemistry and Pharmacy at Sofia University “St. Kl. Ohridski” as Partner. The objective is improvement of qualification and motivation for academic career development of young researchers and acquisition of interdisciplinary competence for innovative aspects of biomedical research. The target group includes 37 members – 16 PhD students, 7 postdoctoral fellows, 7 lecturers, 7 researchers under the age of 34. Twelve work packages (WP) are proposed according to the main and specific objectives of the project – along with new WP there are upgrading WP of previous projects. WP provide funding for research mobility; participation in international scientific events; publication fee in prestigious international scientific journals; access and use of specialized equipment; improvement of research facilities; innovative interdisciplinary education performed by outstanding scientists from Bulgaria and abroad; publicity and project management. The training courses of the young scientists will help them to generate ideas in a new scientific interdisciplinary area between biology, chemistry and mathematics. Stimulation of academic mobility for establishment and development of international collaboration with leading research institutions will guarantee successful investment in career development. Improvements of research facilities will attract young researches and will motivate them for scientific career development in Bulgaria. Support for dissemination of results in international journals will enhance popularization of achievements of Bulgarian scientists and will increase their prestige abroad. Successful implementation of WP will create an interdisciplinary team of young scientists with high potential and capacity for integration in European research area.
