Project “Doctoral Training at Plovdiv Medical University for Competency, Creativity, Originality, Accomplishment and Academism in Science and Technologies-2 (DOCTORANT 2)” is implemented by Plovdiv Medical University as follow-up and building-upon the successfully implemented Project “DOCTORANT 1”. The project objective is to contribute to the development of human resources engaged in science at the University and increase the capacity of doctoral candidates, postdocs and young scientists for conducting research. 4 students, 15 doctoral candidates, 15 postdocs, 5 young scientists and 12 habilitated lecturers are included in the project. We will continue holding trainings for successful scientific career at the Doctoral School established under “DOCTORANT 1”. The next step in young researchers’ training is to involve them in the Pedagogical Academy where the training focus is on building capacity for scientific research, participation in international scientific projects etc. The habilitated lecturers will also pass training at the Pedagogical Academy to acquire knowledge and build skills for scientific supervision of doctoral candidates, technological transfers etc. We will provide mentoring/consultancy support from distinguished foreign and Bulgarian scientists to support young researchers in achieving significant research results and acquiring practical experience in conducting scientific research. 10 young researchers and 4 students will conduct 1-month internships at universities in the EU and USA. 30 young researchers will present their scientific projects and research findings at EU forums. We will support 45 publications in international journals. To promote the scientific achievements of young researchers we will organise “Days of medical science” and international conference “Science and youth”. The project will grant access to scientific databases, purchase scientific resources, support young researchers’ access to international networks and projects.
