The project was developed by TU-Sofia in partnership with the largest employer in the country - National Railway Infrastructure Company (NRIC). The concept design is, by combining capabilities, backed by the planned activities, having the potential of the largest technical university in the country and the capacity of the partner, to create conditions for conversion of TU into a modern center of engineering knowledge, bringing together the main elements of the knowledge triangle: education, science and innovation. TU has proven traditions in the preparation of engineering personnel, but the university is aware of its duty to provide adequate opportunities for better research and academic realization of its talented young researchers in the Ramp;D area. 9 activities are planned for implementation in this project. They are related to attracting lead researchers, young scientists, PhD students and post-docs, and develop their capacity by providing scientific and innovative environment, consisting of several key components: opportunities for scientific and professional development and mobility of young researchers in the EU; provision of materials and supplies for conducting research and engineering experiments; access to modern scientific and experimental infrastructure including the infrastructure of the partner and others. The project plans the formation of 3 target groups (TG): "PhD students," "Post-docs and young scientists" and "Students and other young researchers" with a total of 68 participants. TU-Sofia has already been a beneficiary in the previous programming period under the scheme for PhD students, while the project was limited in scope and focused mainly on virtual engineering. Given the useful experience and taking into account lessons learned, this project expresses the pursuit for a significant extension of such research, based on real engineering experiments with which to meet the current needs, identified both TG and the business.
