Step to School

„Step to School” is a partner initiative of Knowledge Association, Letnitsa Municipality and “Irina Bacho Kirova” Kindergarten aiming to support children of ethnic minorities from Letnitsa municipality in their future professional, social and personal growth through providing equal chances for high quality early education. In the frame of a 2 year period, the project will work on the motivation and engagement of parents in the learning and education process and will enhance the first steps to school. A sequence of activities is aimed at detecting, developing and promoting talented kids. Our goal is to socially include and encourage children of ethnic minorities to attend kindergarten sessions as a precondition to further education. Day of Talents, Fairytale Ball, Everyday and Holiday Sports, Culinary demonstrations will give opportunities of kids and parents to demonstrate their gifts and talents. The Tolerance Lessons will teach the kids of tolerance, good and the value of differences. The “Why? Club” aims at providing answers of the whys of kids and promotes the knowledge and learning. The creative workshops will test the feeling of group and art community where beautiful objects are produced together. For children experiencing difficulties in expressing themselves in Bulgarian, additional lessons in Bulgarian language will be organized. Child Educational Library at the Kindergarten “Irina Bacho Kirova” will be established to support parents and teachers with books for children and on educational topics. The project also targets overcoming the negative attitudes of the society towards the ethnic minorities through launching informational campaign and publications in the media. A Project Council will be established in order to provide a quality management of the project, where all partners will be represented and will have an equal voice. Representatives of the target group (parents) will have the opportunity to take part in the decision making process.
