"Support of preschool education for disadvantaged children in the Breznik Municipality"

The main aim of the ‘Support of preschool education for disadvantaged children in the Breznik Municipality’ project is to achieve meaningful and stable results in the context of integration of children living in the margins of society, as well as children of roman ethnic decent. The main means to achieve this aim are as follows: - Improving the quality of education in the ‘Brezitza’ kindergarten; - Ensuring equal access to pre-school education and support networks; - Creating favourable conditions for successful social integration of children from minorities - Educating school authorities in tolerance and integration of parents in the schooling process; - Increating children’s motivation to learn and - Overcoming of negative social predespositions based on ethnic differences. The main actitivites to this aim are related to: - Improvement of the educational environment at the ‘Brezitza’ kindergarten and improvement of education overall by extra Bulgarian literacy classes for children with mother tongue other than Bulgarian; - Conservation and development of the cultural identity of children from minorities; - Working with parents and encouraging them to participate in the education of their children; - Overcoming of negative prejudices based on ethnic and cultural differences. Multicultural exchange - Developing a plan of action to integrate the roma population in the Breznik municipality (2016 – 2020). This project also includes publicity and project management activities. The execution of this project will ensure sustainability of the established working models for quality education in the ‘Brezitza’ kindergarten, as well as sustainable results in educational integration of children from ethnic minorities (3-6 year olds) within the municipality right until they enter primary schooling. The execution of this project will ensure the stable increase of successful integration of children from ethic minorities in the Breznik municipality.
