Integration and high quality education in the kindergartens of Sadovo Municipality

Sadovo Municipality is multi-ethnic area. The majority of Roma families communicate in their mother tongue. Inadequate Bulgarian language skills when starting school leads to a state where children of different ethnic origin become outsiders and a large percentage of them, lose motivation and drop out of education system. Dropout from the education system makes it impossible for their integration in the future. It is therefore important at an earlier phase in the system of kindergartens, children from different ethnic backgrounds to receive additional training in Bulgarian language. Great percentage of children are raised in single parent families or families in which where frequent change of partners takes place. In most families social and economic status is extremely low. Therefore many would benefit from additional psychologists work with children and parents. That is why the project is aimed at better socialization and ensure equal access to quality education for ethnic minority children. Project activities include additional training in Bulgarian language, provision of improved quality environment in kindergartens within the municipality, additional work with children from ethnic minorities and their families, building a model of ethnic tolerance, cultural identity and productive multicultural environment.
