"Magic classroom"

Full integration of Roma children in Bulgarian education is directly dependent on the creation of conditions for prereservation of their individual identity and by creation of adequate conditions for education and training. The strategic objective of the Project is to eliminate unequal attitude towards Roma children in the society. The project is aimed at attracting and retaining of Roma children and those granted international protection in the educational system. Target groups of the project are disadvantaged children and their parents. The basic problems leading to the lack of education and hampering the integration of Roma children are: 1. Difficult adaptation of children in the early stages of education. 2. Difficulties in learning lessons of because of insufficient fluency of Bulgarian language. The main activities envisaged of the project are: Additional Bulgarian language training for children for whom Bulgarian is not a mother tongue. The purpose of education is to achieve literacy and basic knowledge of the language. Encouraging of communication and common events among children of different ethnic groups are the main project activities. Various common events will be organized in which will take part children from different ethnic groups to create a friendly environment and develop a sense of tolerance between them. The work with the parents for raising awareness on the necessity and the benefit of education is of crucial importance for involving children in the educational process as a condition for their integration and social inclusion.
