The future today - education and integration

Nikola Kozlevo municipality is located in northeastern Bulgaria, part of Shumen region. The population of the municipality is about 6100 people, according to data of the National Statistical Institute in 2011, 2883 of them identified themselves as representatives of Turkish ethnicity and 1176 as Roma. In recent years, the Roma population is steadily increasing. Ethnic diversity leads to both favorable demographic trends - high birth rate and a relatively high proportion of young people in the municipality and a number of socio-economic problems. Essential to solve their complete socialization of ethnic minorities - priorities of policy and strategic documents of the municipality Nikola Kozlevo. In pursuance of this policy, emphasizing the education of children and youth as a condition for their successful professional, social and creative realization, Municipality Nikola Kozlevo develop project "The future today - education and integration." The project provides training in Bulgarian language, additional activities with the risk of dropping students and activities to improve the learning environment in schools, which educate integrated pupils from ethnic minorities, preservation and development of cultural identity of students, energizing and empowering parents and campaigns to support education in ethnically mixed environment to include the maximum number of representatives of target groups: 408 students from ethnic minorities from all five schools in the municipality of Nikola Kozlevo and 220 parents. As a result, the education system will integrate successfully 327 students from ethnic minorities / including Roma /. To achieve the integration effect, will participate in the activities of students and parents who are not part of the target minority groups. Nikola Kozlevo Municipality will implement the project in partnership with the school Tcanko Bakalov Tserkovski and Association New Way.
