"Learn and succeed" - educational integration of students from ethnical minorities

The general goal of the project is to support the process of retention in school of students form ethnical minorities on the territory of Poduyane region, Sofia municipality, through application of specific methods and approaches for educational integration. Specific goals: Decreasing the risk of early school leaving of students from ethnical minorities, through submitting of additional education for compensation of general gaps in the assimilation of the curricula. Increasing the effectiveness in the work for retention in the educational system of the kids with diverse ethnical origin, through work with parents and their involvement in the school life. Creation of conditions for development of the interests and talents of the students, in danger of dropping out with application of attractive extracurricular working forms and improving of the educational environment in the partnering schools. Target groups of the project are 120 students from ethnical minorities or those that are looking or received international protection; 60 parents of students from ethnical minorities, in danger of dropping out from the educational system. For achievement of the goals the following activities will be implemented: Additional activities with the students from ethnical minorities in danger of dropping out; Improvement of the educational environment in schools out of Roma ghettos, in which kids from ethnical minorities are studding; Psychological support for the students from the ethnical minorities, as well as for students that are looking or received international protection; Work with the parents from the ethnical minorities, who interfere their kids to go to school regularly; Overcoming negative public attitudes based on ethnic and cultural identity.
