School of Ambition - 2

The project is logical contionation of the partnership between Crime Prevention Fund - IGA and 67th Elementary school "Vasil Drumev", Vazrajdane district of Sofia, in the implementation of the project "School of Ambition". Aim of the project is to help Roma children in the capital district "Vazrazhdane" to develop into productive members of the society and to achieve successful social and professional realization in society. At the start of the project the research activity will be conducted and the educational environment in the school will be improved. A sustainable mechanism for mediation between students, parents and school will be created and will start functioning, in which key role will play the 12 hired mediators. The capacity and opportunities to socialize and receive quality education for 200 students from ethnic minorities in the school will be increased through participation in individual/ group programs to make up for lost study, additional program in Bulgarian language and psychological support. About 200 parents will participate in various forms for inclusion in the educational process irrespective of their ethnic origin. With 40 children dropped out of school efforts will be taken for their reintegration into the education system. The project will act to overcome negative public attitudes based on ethnic and cultural identity, through seminars and roundtables. Through various club activities, trips and study visits, the project will preserve and develop the cultural identity of ethnic minority students and their peers integration in a multicultural environment. Activities of information and publicity will include a press conference, 50 posters, 300 information leaflets; 500 information leaflets on the results of the project; 100 promotional pens; 2 information boards, 10 media publications.
