“To succeed all together””

The project “To succeed all together” is aimed at integration and improvement of language skills and educational results of the children at Cv. Radoslavov High School and Philip Sakelarievich Primary School, - Svishtov. At both of schools, 531 children from 5 ethnicities all together are being educated, with 20% of them being from the Roma ethnicity. Due to the closure of the schools in the populated areas near Svishtov Munisipality, both schools took in 30 children from the closed schools. The School is near to two suburbs, where many families live on social welfare. According to school council, 30% of the population there receive social funding. Between 25 is the number of students, who every month have more than 5 unexcused absences, with 10 students who do not attend class regularly. It is observed lack of parents’ skills to motivate their children for education, difficulties in bringing them up and lack of motivation in children themselves. A large number of students, who do not attend school, live in families either parent missing or are brought up by grandparents. About 20 children live in total poverty and live at a great distance from the school. The school has an already a crafted strategy for the educational integration of the students, which encompasses measures to overcome the problem with illiteracy of ethnic minorities’ students, popularizing methods for increasing the academic results of the students, integrating the parents in the process. The project plans to work with 531 students and roughly the same number of parents. The planned project activities are aimed for assistance of students from ethnic minorities, and alongside with their peers, to become fulfilled citizens and achieve successful professional, social and personal realization. This objective will be accomplished by a variety of school club activities, school trips, cooperation with parents and addition of academic and social integration strategies on school and municipality level.
