BRIGHT ETHNO!

The "Bright Ethno" project will be implemented by Haskovo Municipality, in partnership with 10 multi- ethnic schools in the region and 6-well- established non-profit organizations. The foreseen activities are targetted at students and their families, in order to adapt them to the educational process and to preserve and develop their cultural identity in intergrated multicultural and tolerant environment, fostering the relations of openness, positiveness, interest to differences and value of diversity. This will result in building respect and creating an atmosphere, in which all students will feel accepted, respected and identified with their own identity and culture. The project activities will be implemented in Haskovo Municipality, for 24 months and are logically connected in order to achieve the project objectives. Public festive project activities, representing the culture of different ethnic groups, will strenghten diversity as a major value and make school more attractive to students and their parents. The leisure activities /extracurricular and outsourced trainings/ are an important stimulus for personal development, to address the problems of children for their social inclusion; transforming schools into a desired and friendly place. In this sense, they are particularly important in achieving the goals of educational integration of students from ethnic minorities. Other activities foreseen with the PP are for information and publicity, as well as information campaigns aimed at tackling discrimination on grounds of race, ethnic origin or religion among the local community. The project provides both new and probed activities, complements and develops the effect of other EU initiatives implemented in previous projects and initiatives of the partnering organizations. The project fully complies with the National Strategy of Bulgaria for Roma inclusion 2012-2020 and the adopted plan for integration of Bulgarian citizens of Roma origin in Haskovo Municipality.
