THE SCHOOL - WORKSHOP FOR DREAMS

The project " The School – workshops for a dreams" will be implemented 26 months of Association "Youth education for active citizenship" in the town of Smolyan, in partnership with the primary school “Stoyo Shishkov” in Smolyan and Smolyan’s Municipality. It will directly participate 140 needy students from the partner school, 28 of which are Roma people. Roma minority group living in detached neighborhood with the characteristic of the ghetto. There is distancing and dismissive attitude towards children and young people of Roma origin. They live in poverty, because the majority of adult Roma are unemployed. There is a problem with the dropout of Roma children from school, due to lack of motivation of their families to encourage them to continue their education. This project will involve and integrate Roma students, not only to education, but also to community life. Will contribute to building a tolerant and evolving environment in the school and the local community, to enable them to develop their personal potential and fully realization. The main activities planned in the project are: additional training in Bulgarian language, for students, for whom it is not their mother tongue; creative and sports activities; expression of the students to the local community; psychological support to students who need; work with parents of Roma children, to improve their parenting skills; transparent and efficient management and administration of the project. As a result of implementation of project activities will be created tolerant and differences respectful environment in school, better conditions for support Roma students in their families and overcome the negative attitudes in the community based on ethnic origin. They will be built effective partnerships and cooperation between the three partners, who will ensure sustainability of the project results, after the finalization of the project.
