The Colors of Hope: support for the educational integration in Karlovo Municipality

The project is a joint initiative with duration of 24 months of Karlovo municipality, primary schools in the municipality, Amalipe Center and "Roma village" Foundation, village of Rozino It aims to create a comprehensive model for the implementation of municipal policy for educational integration in Karlovo municipality, which includes key stakeholders (schools, parental community, municipal administration) and combines activities on school, inter-school and municipal level, aiming to achieve: a full range of students in the compulsory age, introduction of intercultural education, improve the quality of education in schools, encouraging training in ethnically mixed environment, support for training in high school and involvement of Roma parents. The project provides not only joint activities between schools with prevailing number of Roma students but also those in which they are a minority (which will support the mutual adoption of the two groups and the process of natural desegregation in secondary education) but also works to ensure a smooth transition between primary and secondary education, including extra motivation for education. The project aims at the creation of a comprehensive municipal policy that stops the processes of secondary segregation and will lead to real educational desegregation and integration. Moreover, thanks to the activities provided for changing public attitudes, information, etc., the project will lead to a complete change of attitude among the majority, which inevitably facilitate and promote educational integration. It builds on the experience that some of the schools in the municipality have already managed to develop in terms of educational integration of Roma children, the experience and the collected best practices from across the country through the network of schools of Amalipe Center and will help other participating schools to also develop their potential and capabilities in this area.
