„Support for Equal Access and Personal Development”

The project proposal „Support for Equal Access and Personal Development” outlines the overall process of inclusive education. The term „inclusive education“ has gained popularity in the school and parent community and is now the official term in the new Law on pre-school and school education. Efforts on creating a supportive environment for inclusive education started with the „Inclusive Education“ project under the Operational Programme „Human Resources Development” 2007-2013. Specialists have been appointed in established pilot schools and kindergartens, with the help of which an individual approach in accordance with the individual needs of each child and student has been implemented. A number of good models and practices have been created in the field of inclusive education, in accordance with the principles of equal access to quality education and the inclusion of every child and student, equality and non-discrimination, as well as in accordance with the process of deinstitutionalization. The analysis of the model of inclusive education pointed out the good results and accomplishments, but also highlighted some difficulties and problems, mostly with early intervention of learning difficulties and insufficient training of teams of specialists and teachers in kindergartens and schools. One of the biggest remaining challenges is the development of the capacity of the education system to implement the process. Therefore, through this project proposal the existing activities will be continued and expanded upon, focusing on the training of everyone working in this area, while the scope of the institutions should be broadened accordingly. There are six key activities intended, all in order to support the education and personal development of children 3 to 6 years old at risk of learning difficulties, children and students with special education needs, and students with deviant behavior.
