"Trained, motivated, sensitive" Raising the professional capacity of educators from Rouen and Burgas to work in multicultural environment

The goal of the project “Educated, motivated, sensitive” is to enrich the professional abilities of the teachers, directors and other school educators in three of the multicultural schools in Burgas Municipality. The project aims at acquiring professional qualification degree, as well as at increasing the motivation for studying among students, including their mother tongue; increasing the sensitivity of educators towards the specifics of the ethnic communities, from which their students come; and at creating an appropriate socio-psychological environment in the school and community, through increasing the capacity of the educational mediators and improving the communication between students, teachers, mediators and parents to fight the early drop-out of the educational system. There are four interconnected activities, planned in the project, focused at analyzing and researching the current state and the needs of the target group, developing a Program for working in multicultural environment, which main aim is the improvement of the qualification of the educators and educational mediators. There will be also a number of educational activities for acquiring professional qualification degree as well as trainings with and without acquiring qualification degrees. 103 people will take part in the implementation of the project activities – school principals, pedagogical experts and educational mediators from three schools: “Hristo Botev” (Pobeda), “Vasil Levski”, (Gorno Ezerovo); and ”St. St. Kiril and Methodius” in the village of Ravnec, where a total of 1324 kids study, and among which 99,24% don’t speak Bulgarian as a mother’s tongue. The Thracian University of Stara Zagora is a project partner, a university with a proven experience in education and re-education of pedagogical experts. The activities of the project will be realized together with all of the partners. The project will be realized in 36 months during 3 school years. The budget is BGN 382 114,47.
