"Different, but together."

The “Different, but together" project has two main, interconnected and building upon each other stages. Stage 1 – Development (update) of an individual strategy and plan for work in a multicultural environment that is based on the particular needs of the educational institution – its goal is to improve the educational specialists’ skills to assess their own resources to work in such an environment and to plan and implement appropriate measures in accordance to the desired goals identified in the strategy. The specialists will enrich their strategic planning and implementation skills. The newly elaborated documents will become part of the internal regulations of the educational institution and they are to be updated annually with the active participation of the entire team. In the long run this will ensure the timely and adequate provision of fundamental elements that are needed to build a favorable and encouraging environment for both the specialists and the students and their families. Stage 2 – Enhancement of the pedagogical specialists’ knowledge and skills to work in a multicultural environment through participation in trainings. They will provide additional theoretical knowledge about cultural diversity and what factors are needed to facilitate the educational integration of students with different ethnic background. In addition, the trainings will encourage the participants to review and reassess their attitude towards the diversity they can come across in the classroom. This process directs them towards creating and sustaining an inclusive environment that recognizes the differences and adapts the environment and processes according to the individual needs of the students.
