EXCHANGE - The municipality as a place for ethno innovation

The project "EXCHANGE - The municipality as a place for ethno innovation" is aimed at increasing the professional skills of pedagogical specialists to work in a multicultural environment and to teach students knowledge about the perception of ethnocultural differences in the community. The classrooms must provide equal opportunities for all children and students, regardless of their native language and cultural identity. The inclusion of pedagogues from 10 kindergartens and schools in the municipalities of Plovdiv and Rakovski in qualification forms for work in a multicultural educational environment will directly help to solve the problems facing the educational integration of students from the Roma ethnic group: 1. High number of dropouts and those not covered by the school system; 2. The segregation of a large percentage of Roma students in “Roma” schools or classes; 3. Low success of students in school, which is a serious prerequisite for dropping out; 4. Low percentage of Roma youth continuing in high schools; 5. Non-participation of Roma parents in the activities of the school. The project activities are aimed at preparing teachers for successful teaching and communication through qualification for work in multiethnic classrooms. The educators involved in the training will reveal their personal attitudes towards racial, ethnic, linguistic and cultural groups; will acquire knowledge about the history and culture of the various racial, ethnic, cultural and linguistic groups in the kindergarten and the school; will get acquainted with the perspectives of different ethnic and cultural communities; will acquire the knowledge and skills needed to apply "fair" pedagogy - training that provides all students with equal opportunities to achieve academic and social success in school.
