"Education - a factor in overcoming poverty and social exclusion"

Education is a fundamental factor in overcoming poverty and social exclusion. Many of those at risk of poverty are people with lower than primary, primary and lower secondary education. Children of low-skilled parents are also at high risk of poverty and social exclusion. Our project proposal is aimed precisely at this vulnerable group of people. We are aware of the fact that adult literacy must be targeted. Very often they have problems with basic skills that are key to their successful social development. Their problems reflect on their children, ie. our students. The planned project activities are aimed at compensating for the effect of early school leaving. With the implementation of the project activities we will provide them with access to literacy courses and an appropriate environment to compensate for literacy problems, as well as courses for acquiring competencies from junior high school. For the implementation of Activity 1 a Mechanism for identification and motivation of the target groups has been created. Under Activity 2 we plan to organize literacy courses, courses for acquiring competencies from the junior high school stage of primary education. For the evaluation and certification of the results, we will conduct the relevant exams for the courses for literacy and acquisition of competencies from the junior high school stage. We will motivate the successful graduates to continue their education to a higher degree. Through information materials, events we will promote the need to increase literacy as a prerequisite for future employment. Within the project the following literacy groups will be created for 5th, 6th and 7th grade. Our goal is for at least three classes to complete primary education within the project. We anticipate the number of groups to be within 10-15 people. The groups will include people (including Roma) from 16 to 24 years old, as well as people from 25 to 64 years old.
