BELIEVE IN YOURSELF

The BELIEVE IN YOURSELF project is aimed at young people from small towns and villages who have a certain level of education or who have dropped out of school for various reasons and have not managed to find their place in our contemporary social reality. Some of them need vocational and social guidance. They have fragment information about the labour market and are not aware of their own skills and capabilities. Others feel disappointed with the choices they made when they were teenagers. Last but not least, the role of the family having different expectations from the young people is also to be considered. The impact of external factors, such as the relatively higher unemployment rate in smaller towns and villages, makes young people feel uncertain of their own strengths and capabilities, leading them to despair and passivity, which are reflected in their expectation someone else to decide their destiny. Procedure BG05M90P001-1.002 scheme ACTIVE HRD OP for the first time gives us an opportunity to identify these inactive young people, to influence their behaviour, to reduce the impact of the negative factors that led to their passivity and to generate motivation and activeness on their part, which is the mission of the project. We rely primarily on direct contacts with non-working and non-studying young people. These contacts will be established by the project team with the participation of volunteers - students of Psychology and Social Pedagogy at St. Cyril and St. Methodius University of Veliko Turnovo - assisted by representatives of the local authorities and training institutions in the mentioned areas. When we identify problems in the young people’s needs or employability, they will be referred to adequate vocational training, qualification course or employment. With the other young people from the target group we are going to work towards their return to school, further education or registration at the relevant employment agency to look for a job.
