Increasing Labor Productivity of Employees Through Vocational Training in Medium-Sized Enterprises

The intensity of competition in the sugar and confectionery industry in Bulgaria is very high: the global giants in the industry own huge production facilities and modern equipment and are exclusively focused on the production of traditional chocolate products. The smaller firms in the industry operate mainly in the domestic market, as they do not have large production capacities. Concerning the importing companies, competition is mainly between those who import products from Germany, Austria and Greece. Their import is of high quality, high price and is targeted at solvent customers. Products made in Turkey are very popular because of their low price and good quality. Current trend in chocolate business is the use of substitute products, produced entirely with healthy and low calorie ingredients. At the same time, the demand for high-quality chocolate products, for which consumers are willing to pay a higher price, is increasing. In order to acquire competitive positions and overcome the threats of other rivals, the Candidate (Zaharen Kombinat - Plovdiv) aims to increase the productivity of the employees in the company, through vocational training, involving employees of different ages, from various departments, occupying diverse positions with different degrees of education, while respecting the principles of equality and non-discrimination in the training selection. The increased labor productivity achieved through vocational training, fully tailored to the employer's needs for professional growth of the employees, will lead to cost reduction, increase of the efficiency of the activity, increase of the financial results of the company, which in turn will result in Increase payroll and increase career opportunities.
