SPECIAL TRAINING IN EMERGENCY MEDICAL ASSISTANCE FOR THE NEEDS OF “MULTI PROFILE HOSPITAL FOR ACTIVE TREATMENT -HASKOVO” JSC

Candidate for the project proposal is “MULTI PROFILE HOSPITAL FOR ACTIVE TREATMENT –HASKOVO” JSC, which is the biggest and functioning high-level hospital in Haskovo region. The main identified needs as well as problems of the hospital are related to the fact that due to its remoteness from the bigger hospital centers in Sofia and Plovdiv and due to its location in close proximity to large and busy road structures and especially to the “Maritsa” Motorway, in practice it is the only hospital in the area, which needs to be able to provide comprehensive emergency medical assistance to many patients in serious and critical condition. In order for the hospital to be highly professional and responsive to this need, the project provides specific training for a target group of 39 emergency medical doctors. They will acquire specific theoretical and practical knowledge, qualifications and experience in the various modern fields of medicine related to the overall clinical management of critical conditions, and in particular in the clinical guidelines relating to etiology, pathogenesis and therapeutic behavior in patients in such conditions. The target group will include 4 subgroups, specializing in the following main areas of emergency care: Sepsis and septic shock; Trauma; Organ and multi-organ failure; Respiratory failure. As a result of the training, it is expected to achieve a significant increase in the overall competence of the medical staff of the hospital to provide emergency care to high risk patients. We also look forward to an extremely positive impact on the local community in terms of overall improvement in the health of the population in the area, reducing mortality, improving quality of life, and thereby achieving the highest possible level of social cohesion between European regions.
