Joint actions of the social partners for adapting the working environment to the specific ageing needs of different generations with the aim to promote a longer working life and workability

The project aims to adapt human resources management policies and industrial relations to changing demographic trends and ageing workforce and creating prerequisites for the development of the so-called "silver economy" through active social partnership. The successful implementation of the activities will contribute to overcoming some of the labour market challenges in Bulgaria in terms of labour shortages and the need to adapt enterprises and entrepreneurs to the changing needs of employees over the age of 54 and the introduction of the intergenerational approach. The project will carry out in-depth, unique research in Bulgaria, on the generational characteristics of the workforce, the regional demographics of the workforce by sector, the specific needs of employed persons with chronic diseases. They will form the basis for conducting a social dialogue between project partners in order to reach consensus on new policies, programs, and tools to be set up within the project. As a result of the agreements reached between the social partners, specific sectoral programs will be developed and tested to promote longer working lives and workability and a National Framework Agreement on the implementation of the European Social Partners' Autonomous Framework Agreement of the European Social Partners on Active Aging and Inter-generational approach will be developed and signed by project partners. It is envisaged to develop six innovative tools that will be pilot tested and introduced in the human resource management systems in selected at least 100 enterprises from ten economic sectors. The results of the project will contribute to adapting the work environment to the needs of older people, with a view to their longer retention, cooperation and knowledge transfer between generations and to increase their job satisfaction.
