Independent Life in Mezdra Municipality

The overall project objective is to contribute to improving the quality of life and to mitigate the consequences of the social exclusion and poverty of people with disabilities and people aged 65+ from Mezdra Municipality by improving their access to integrated services for social inclusion. In order to achieve this objective,we plan to establish and equip a Centre for hourly provision of services for social inclusion in the community and at home and for provision of integrated services. In order to expand the volume, scope and purposefulness of provided services,we will form a multidisciplinary team of experts–social worker, medical nurse, psychologist, pedagogue. At the Centre people with disabilities will use social, administrative and medical services and will have the opportunity to build social contacts, access topical information and the internet in order to communicate with their peers abroad. The services of home helper, social and personal assistant will be provided at people’s homes. The project beneficiaries will receive motivational and psychological support from a qualified psychologist.Children with disabilities and their parents will receive support from a qualified pedagogue. We will make an individual evaluation of the needs of each beneficiary of the Centre in order to make sure that each one will receive the service,or the set of services, they need. We will purchase a specialised vehicle for people with disabilities–a minivan with 8+1 seats and a wheelchair ramp:in this way the people with disabilities and people who cannot care for themselves not only from Mezdra, but also from the neighbouring villages will have access to integrated services.35 home helpers, personal and social assistants will be hired under the project. They will take care of 90 people with disabilities and people aged 65+ who cannot care for themselves. In order to improve the quality of provided services,we will conduct 3 trainings and 3 supervisions of the service-providing staff.
