For a better life

This project proposal aims at expanding the activities of the existing unit for home-based social care services in Velingrad. It envisages the creation of a project management team that will be responsible for the successful implementation of the project. Within the framework of the project, home-based social care personnel will be selected and trained. At the same time, potential service users will be identified; they will receive detailed information on the project’s goals and activities, as well as on application modalities and deadlines. The project aims to provide hourly services to people with permanent disabilities and to elderly people above 65 years of age who are unable to take care of themselves. It seeks to offer them high-quality care services in home environment, and plans to achieve this goal by improving service quality, adopting a targeted and flexible approach to social service provision, and creating opportunities for professional development for family members of people with permanent disabilities. Insecurity in the socioeconomic sphere negatively impacts the society as a whole, but it is particularly detrimental to its most vulnerable members – people with permanent disabilities, including disabled children. The main problems of these groups are the absence of social contacts and the inability to cope with everyday tasks. The disabled and the elderly who cannot take care of themselves face numerous obstacles in their pursuit of equal opportunities, independence and social integration. For this reason, the project also foresees psychological support for social service users. In order to meet their needs, it is necessary to offer them care and support addressing their specific problems. The activities foreseen within the framework of the project take into account the specificity of the social situation in Bulgaria and the needs of the project’s target groups living on the territory of the Velingrad municipality.
