The Municipality of Elena with care and support for independent life

The realization of the project “The Municipality of Elena with care and support for independent life” within the framework of the procedure “Independent life” will give an opportunity to upgrade the achieved results according to the plan “Alternatives” from OP “Development of Human Resources” (2007-2013) through expanding the range and spectrum of the activities towards giving integrated social and health services. The population of Elena is senescent. The main problems of the people over 65 are: partial or full inability to take care of themselves at home. Most often the reason is health problems, difficulties I organizing their everyday activities by themselves and lack of social contacts. The aim of the present draft offer is to improve the access to social and health services as well as to achieve independence and social integration for the disabled people. The positive results which were achieved in the realization of previous projects motivate the Municipality of Elena to look for an opportunity to upgrade and expand the spectrum of social and health services which will improve the quality of life of the people from the vulnerable groups and /or/ their families. The project is focused on giving equal opportunities to the vulnerable groups by expanding the scope and purposefulness of the social services provided by the community. The target group consists of disabled people and their families as well as people who are over 65 years old with limited ability or inability to take care of themselves. A centre for hourly provision of social and health services in home ambience will be set up with this project. For the provision of these services a team (home assistants, personal assistants and nurses) will be appointed. This team will take care of the users of the target group. The Municipality of Elena will guarantee the provision of these services for at least 6 months after the final closure of the project.
