“The Municipality of Chepelare – innovated social services for independent life”

The objective of the project proposal is to support and develop the existent Services in Domestic Environment Center – Chepelare by providing the people with disabilities with an access to supportive and integrated inter-sector services for social inclusion in accordance with their specific needs. The project complements and builds upon the results of the activities already performed by the municipality within the “Help at home” scheme, provides care and support to people with disabilities and over 65 years of age incapable of self-service. Thus the project responds to the needs of the community and contributes to achieving a better life-quality of the people at risk and their families. The services are used after a complex assessment of the needs and a developed individual plan, personal care, household assistance, help with the social inclusion, healthcare and social-psychological help and support of the users, consultation and support of their families are provided. By repairs and equipment of the Center a proper material and technical setting for motor activity assistance and rehabilitation, entertaining occupational therapy and art therapy, psychological consultation, etc. are provided. The services are implemented by a team of the Center consisting of 46 Personal Assistants, Social Assistants and Domestic Assistants and 6 healthcare and social care professionals (medical nurses, a rehabilitator, a psychologist, a social care specialist). During the project activities the Assistants are provided with training, supervision and psychological support, working outfits and personal protection devices. Information campaigns are held for keeping the community aware of the project’s objectives, progress and results, advertising and information materials are disseminated. A qualified team is created for the overall functioning and management of the project and the Center.
