A chance for you

Our project proposal is focused on young people who have been residing in homes for children deprived of parental care and who are currently using residential care services. All surveys, as well as statements of state institutions relevant to the care of children and young people, indicate that this target group has a deficit of basic social skills that allow adequate integration into society. They have partial or complete lack of specific skills such as full integration into the labor market, planning of important life events, skills for good communication and cohabitation with others, knowledge of civil rights and obligations, etc. The listed problems make it difficult for these young people to socially adapt and develop, as well as to uncover their potential and possible talents. The adopted in 2010 national strategy for "deinstitutionalization of children in Bulgaria" and the subsequent closure of social homes led to the adoption of children and young people into new residential care services. Unfortunately, some objective and subjective difficulties in new services, such as the inherited youth development problems, insufficient staffing, etc., hamper the qualitative overcoming of the above-mentioned social deficits. In order to support and help these young people to cope with the above-mentioned deficits and to advance their personal development, we plan to carry out a set of activities that include: interactive group trainings; individual and group consultations by specialists; training on digital competences; development of interests and talents through acquaintance with theatrical and dance art.
