Setting Up a New Social Enterprise for People with Disabilities in the Municipality of Plovdiv

This project aims to support the Municipality of Plovdiv in its intention to set up a new social enterprise that will have a substantial positive social impact on the lives of disabled people. Thirty-two people with different types of disabilities will be hired full-time and part-time for a period of twelve months. They will be trained to perform different kinds of manufacturing operations related to the production of promotional fabric tote bags and fridge magnets. In addition, various types of interventions are envisioned in order to support the process of social and professional integration of the target group. In order to achieve that, a psychologists and social consultants will be hired to work with the disabled people to improve their motivation, psychological well-being and social skills. Training will be provided to the workers with disabilities in order to enhance their social competence. The social enterprise will be managed by a director and an accountant. Five additional workers from the target group of unemployed and inactive people of working age will be hired to support the manufacturing process. The project also foresees a needs analysis to be performed in order to create a workable marketing strategy. Social media platforms and websites will be used to promote the products of social enterprise.
