Toy Workshop

The Toy Workshop Project has the objective to facilitate the access to employment and to provide support for social inclusion of vulnerable groups living in the municipality of Smolian, by creating appropriate conditions for their professional integration in social economy. The project philosophy corresponds to the priorities of the HRDOP 1 Improvement access to employment and quality of the work places, and 2 Reducing poverty and promoting social inclusion. The goal will be achieved through the establishment of a new social enterprise Toy Workshop whose main activity is the production of hand-painted wood toys. It will be situated in village of Mogilitza, Smolian Municipality and will include also representatives of the target vulnerable groups from the two neighbor villages - Arda and Smilian. 23 representatives of the project target groups will be employed in the social enterprise (unemployed young people up to 29 years age, unemployed over 54 years age, long-term unemployed and people with disabilities). They will develop new skills and will receive psychological support in the transition from the status of an unemployed person to the status of worker in social enterprise. The produced wood toys will be offered to the market and to centers for children since they will be designed being appropriate for children with special educational needs too. The project is developed by Association of the Providers of Social Services, founded in 2008. The activity of the Association is aimed at developing community-based social services, creating conditions for social inclusion and participation in the labor market of disadvantaged people and development of innovative service models and social entrepreneurship. The Association has implemented a number of projects in the social sphere, including the social entrepreneurship, financed from European, national and municipal sources - HRD OP, Social Protection Fund, Ministry of Justice, Sofia Municipality.
