Expanding the activities of the Centre for mutual assistance, integration and support at the NRCB - Plovdiv

The project proposal is aimed at satisfying the needs of the visually impaired people (VIP) for: a) self-esteem and motivation for better employability; (b) support in the access to employment; c) empathy of society to their problems; (d) comprehensive measures and united activities between the institutions; (e) more innovative and quality services, training and counseling; (f) active measures to improve prevention and access to healthcare. The target group of the project consists of 60 visually impaired adults and 10 integrated students. The objective of the project is to create preconditions for active social inclusion of people with visual disabilities by enhancing the processes of integrating them, promoting equal opportunities for inclusion in social processes and creating the potential for active participation and better adaptation for employment. Activities include events and initiatives to raise public awareness of the problems and opportunities of people with disabilities and to make changes in public attitudes towards them, to create effective and sustainable models of partnership with local and regional structures working with VIP to increase their capacity (knowledge, skills, competences) through a system of complex measures, facilitating access to employment, providing direct and indirect forms of support for their return to the labor market, implementation of local social activities for social integration of VIP, development and improvement of good practice achieved in recent years. The expected result is the preconditions (mentioned above) for the active inclusion of VIP, encouraged by their equal opportunities for participation in the social processes and the created potential for better employability.
