Equal Opportunities for Development

The proposed project is oriented towards promotion of equal opportunities of people with intellectual disabilities (ID). Identification of problems of the children and adults with ID show stigma and and lack of confidence in their abilities. As a result of that comes the low level of employment of the people with ID and their parents. The overall goal of the project is to contribute for improved opportunities for social inclusion of children and adults with ID. Specific objectives: Change of attitudes towards people with ID and raising awareness of the general public about the challenges they face and their abilities;Development of opportunities for integrated support of people with ID and their families and improvement of their access to employment;Reach partnership and dialogue on local level among among the relevant stakeholders. Main target groups of the proposed project are children and adults with ID and their families. Project results will contribute to: increase the number of children with ID who receive social and health services; increase the number of people with ID receiving support; increase the number of people with ID who actively seek employment. Main project activities: - Dissemination of information and communication - Plan and implementation of a campaign and community initiatives for social inclusion and equal opportunities for people with ID - Creation of a model for cooperation and partnership on local and regional level among the stakeholders in the process of social inclusion of people with ID and establishment of good practices - Research of legislation and practices for establishment of of financial planning and property management for persons with ID - Establishment of centers for consultations and advocacy for people with ID and their families - Establishment of network of innovative services for people with ID and support for employment - Promotion of health and access to healthcare - Local activities for social inclusion
