On Equal Terms

The project is developed in the framework of the current scheme under the OP HRD and corresponds to the objective of the intervention for the creation of conditions for active social inclusion of people with disabilities (PwD), one of the most vulnerable groups in our society. The project aims to contribute to raising public awareness of the problems and opportunities of PwD and changing public attitudes towards them. The project proposal includes all the mandatory activities for the funding intervention, through which complex approaches will be implemented to increase the competitiveness of the PwD, to facilitate their access to employment and increase the opportunities for the return to the labour market, both for the disabled and their family carers. The activities are focused towards improving the knowledge and the skills of the civil society sector to implement local and national policies in the field of support of PwD and their families and achieving effective partnership and dialog with the administration, the social partners, the social service providers, employers and society as a whole. The project proposal complies with the UN Standard Rules on the right of PwD to receive the necessary assistance and support for training, health, employment and social services. "Disabled people should be enabled to exercise their human rights, in particular in the field of employment, should be given equal opportunities for productive and gainful employment ". The project proposal is also aligned with the policy of the EU, presented in "Equal Opportunities for PwD: An European Action Plan" COM (2003) 650, which envisages measures for the social inclusion of PwD. The project proposal is also in line with the Equal Opportunities Strategy for PwD 2008-2015 with its specific measures to be implemented to remove all barriers (psychological, educational, social, cultural, professional, financial and architectural) to social inclusion and the equal integration of PwD.
