Day care center for children and young people with disabilities - Berkovitsa

This project proposal supports the overall process of deinstitutionalization of children in Bulgaria. Developed in response to the National Strategy "Vision for Deinstitutionalization of Children in the Republic of Bulgaria" and the current action Plan to it and will contribute to the achievement of the main goal, namely "Guaranteeing the right of children and the family environment to access quality care and services according to their individual needs." The process of social integration involves the realization of various programs tailored to the specific needs of children and young people. Emphasis is placed on day care, which contains the following: • Improvement of the physical, intellectual and emotional state of children and youth users; • Implementation of modern methods for sports and health care, training and rehabilitation on the basis of an individual assessment and plan for each child/youth; • Integration into the system of mainstream schools and kindergartens on a case that allow; • Informing and educating parents and relatives in skills for caring and developing the potential of children/young people with disabilities; • Informing, advising and mediating parents of children with disabilities; • Psychological assistance and therapy; • Speech therapy; • Organizing of activities in the interests of the users of the social service; • Implementation of activities informing the public about the social service; • Expert-consultative activity; The target group covered in the project includes 30 children and young people with disabilities and their families, including children, accommodated in resident services on the territory of Berkovitsa municipality. Professional support will also be provided to 60 more users who will attend the Center hourly, as needed to receive speech, psychological and/or therapeutic assistance.
