Empowering families of children with disabilities to tackle the challenges of social inclusion and equal access to the labor market through training and motivational and psychological support

For more than 22 years, Karin dom Foundation has been working with disabled children and their families. Serious deficits can be drawn from long-term work with parents as regards the satisfaction of their needs - for professional development, social inclusion, training and upgrading of professional qualifications Parenting may be the most enjoyable but also the most difficult role in life. Unfortunately, 10% of children, to a greater or lesser extent, temporarily or permanently do not fit into these expectations. Parents of children with disabilities often fall into social, educational and labor isolation due to the specificity of their children's condition and the associated challenges to meet their daily and family needs and needs. The project will start in July and will initiate measures for active social inclusion and full access to the labor market of family members who raise children with disabilities by providing key competency training, motivational trainings, individual psychological counseling, informal parents' meetings for mutual assistance and support and game sensory-integrative activities for their children during the employment of parents. Key competence training will give them a solid foundation of knowledge and skills. Motivational training will empower parents with the opportunity to realize some of their rights of support, take their lives in their own hands and boldly embark on the labor market. Various communication events, meetings and discussions between parents and employers will be organized, which will allow for a two-way process of searching for and offering employment opportunities. While parents are included in the learning process or other motivation and improvement activities, children will receive highly qualified care by a dedicated functional team of specialists, through an hourly program of group game sensory integrative activities supporting their autonomy and adaptation.
