Providing patronage care for elderly people and people with disabilities in the municipality of Vratsa

The project responds to the needs identified in the Municipality of Vratsa for social and health support at home, and is directed to people who, due to their health and age, are not able to support themselves alone. The main purpose of the project is to improve the quality of life and the opportunities for social inclusion of older people and people with disabilities by hourly mobile integrated health and social services in a home environment. The specific objectives are facilitateting access to patronage care; reducing the risk of dependence of institutional care; creating new jobs; enhancing the professional skills of people providing patronage care; upgrading of the established model for provision of hourly mobile integrated health and social services for older people by a project implemented by the Bulgarian Red Cross, the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy and the Ministry of Health. Project target groups are elderly people over 65 age with limited ability or inability to self-service; people with disabilities and their families and employees of social and healthcare providers. The project activities are related to the preparation of tenders for the selection of contractors and procedures, repair of appropriate premises and the purchase of a vehicle to perform mobile services, selection and appointment of management team of the Service Center and of the team who provide mobile integrated health and social services in a home environment, application, evaluation and selection of candidates for the Patronage care, training and supervision of staff and provision of hourly mobile integrated health and social services for disabled and elderly people in need. As a result, 220 people will have improved their quality of life and 37 people will be employment in the health and social services sector. The implementation of the project will informed the local community about the possibilities of OP "Human Resources Development" the elderly and people with disabilities.
