Patronage home social care for elderly people and people with disabilities in Veliko Tarnovo Municipality

Taking into account the common demographic trend relevant to Veliko Tarnovo Municipality, which is characterized with aging and negative health status of the population, as well as with the increased number of elderly living alone and elderly people with individualized support, the number of people with need for mobile integrated hourly health and social services is increasing. The implementation of the “Patronage home social care for elderly people and people with disabilities - Component 2” procedure in Veliko Tarnovo Municipality is expected to provide an opportunity to upgrade the good results achieved under the funding schemes “Alternatives”, “For a better life”, “Support for independent life” etc., by providing a broader scope and range of activities which to deliver mobile integrated health and social services, depending on the specific individual needs of the elderly people and people with disabilities. The present project proposal aims to improve the access to mobile integrated health and social services, to provide psychological support, to achieve independence and social inclusion of the elderly people and people with disabilities. The positive results achieved through the implementation of projects under the above schemes have motivated Veliko Tarnovo Municipality to seek opportunities with which to upgrade and expand the range of social and health services throughout which the quality of life of people from vulnerable groups, as well as their relatives and members of their families to be improved. The project encourages the equal opportunities of the vulnerable groups by expanding the range, diversity and purposefulness of social services provided in the community. The target group is: elderly people over 65 years of age with limited ability or inability to take care for themselves; people with disabilities and their families.
