Patronage Care in Municipality of Blagoevgrad

The project proposal envisages the creation and implementation of a new model for patronage care for elderly people and people with disabilities on the territory of Municipality of Blagoevgrad. This model includes the provision of hourly mobile integrated health and social services to 129 residents of Municipality of Blagoevgrad. The services are intended for people with different disabilities and elderly people who experience difficulties in carrying out daily activities related to their self-care. The provision of services will be preceded by a study of their individual needs. For the provision of the integrated services, a total of 25 people will be employed, with 20 of them serving as domestic helpers and 5 as nurses. Employee training and supervision will be provided for the hired staff. The hourly integrated services will also include psychological support provided by a psychologist especially employed for that purpose. The organization for the direct provision of services will be provided by a dedicated team that will include at least a coordinator, a technical assistant, a driver. The duration of the service as set in the project proposal is 12 months. For achieving maximum efficiency and for providing access to the service for people from smaller villages within the municipality, a purchase of a vehicle is set in the project proposal. The project proposal is expected to improve the quality of life of people with disabilities and elderly people with self-care difficulties in Municipality of Blagoevgrad. At the same time, the implementation of the new model of hourly mobile integrated health and social services will enable the development of appropriate local (tangible and expert) capacity for provision of sustainable integrated support.
