Socio-economic integration of marginalized communities in Sredets Municipality.

This project proposal is aimed at overcoming the particularly acute and interrelated problems of the Roma community in the territory of Sredets Municipality and implements an Action Plan for Integration Policies of the Municipality of Sredets. The envisaged activities are: Complex actions in support of labor market integration, by opening new jobs and improving access to social and health services of vulnerable groups. The project will be implemented for 16 months by the Municipality of Sredets. Activities will be implemented in the villages of Svetlina and Fakia, covering the needs of the target groups. The expected results will advance the achievements of the Bulgarian-Swiss cooperation program. Through the implementation of the project, the local community will be informed about the possibilities of the HRD OP 2014-2020 to support the social inclusion of persons from vulnerable groups. The territory of LAG Sredets is characterized by a rising percentage of the Roma population. The risk of growing marginalization and social exclusion of certain groups of the Roma ethnicity is disproportionately high compared to other groups at risk. The socio-economic analysis of the territory shows that for the Roma ethnicity, the percentage of non-citizens is over 23%, which is a prerequisite for long-term problems and unemployment due to the deterioration in the quality of the workforce. In this respect are the indicators for the long-term unemployment, which on the territory grows and reach 22.5% in 2015, which is more than 2 times the average for the country. The implementation of the project proposal will contribute to the achievement of the objectives of: Regional Strategy for Integration of the Roma Burgas region 2013-2020; as well as to implement the priorities and activities set out in the Action Plan of the Sredetz Municipality for the Integration of Bulgarian Roma People and Other Citizens in a Vulnerable Social Situation Living in a Roma-Related Situation (2014-2020).
