Better care for people with disabilities and people over the age of 65 unable to self-care by providing access to social inclusion and health services

The demographic trend of the country is related to the aging of the population. The municipality has a similar characteristic. The age structure of the population in the municipality of Samokov shows an increase in the number of persons over 65 living in small settlements. Often these people live alone in poor living conditions, with low incomes and many chronic diseases. The problems of this group of people are due to the lack of social contacts, the inability to organize their own lives and daily activities, as well as very often various health problems. They often live in social isolation and lose their sense of significance. The implementation of the project will lead to improved access to health and social services and achieve independence and social integration of the elderly and people with disabilities, creating conditions for them to receive care and support based on their individual needs and requirements. To determine the needs of consumers, an individual social assessment will be carried out, enabling people with disabilities to independently choose the desired and necessary assistant, which will give them confidence that they can control the environment. They will be encouraged and assisted in deciding which service best meets their needs. On the other hand, employment of unemployed people of working age who will be employed will be provided, providing an opportunity to return to the labor market of people who take care of their relatives with disabilities.
