"Centers for long-term care, new social services in the Municipality of Veliko Tarnovo"

This project proposal aims to create an opportunity for independent and dignified life of people with mental retardation and the elderly in inability to self-care, by providing quality, affordable and effective integrated social and health services for long-term care, tailored to the real needs of the target groups. The identified target groups include mentally retarded adults and their families; elderly people unable to self-care and their families; employees of social and health service providers. The project will provide support to the target groups by opening 4 pcs. social services of resident type - Center for care of persons with mental retardation and 1 pc. Center for care of elderly people unable to self-care. The four centers will be opened in newly built one-storey buildings, and one in a renovated two-storey building under the OPRD 2014-2020 Project, with a capacity of 15 seats each. The implementation of the project will last 14 months. The provision of residential services will be carried out for a period of 10 months and will meet the needs of 60 users with mental retardation and 15 users unable to self-care. The expected results are the creation of a new form of social service - Center for care of people with mental retardation, which will aim at the interaction of people with mental retardation and the community environment; formed life skills based on the individual capabilities of the people who use the services; changed public attitudes towards people who encounter difficulties due to the presence of mental retardation. As a result of the project implementation, capacity will be built to provide residential care for people with mental retardation. Also expected results are the establishment of a Center for care for the elderly in inability to self-care, which will provide integrated social and health services for the elderly over 65 years of age with disabilities or inability to self-care in a specialized environment.
