"Patronage care for the elderly and disabled in the municipality of Peshtera"

Over the last few years the community of Peshtera has been facing an increase in the number of vulnerable people. Therefore, the operation of social policies by the community is mostly targeted to overcome the consequences of social alienation and poverty. In the context of the epidemic situation becoming more and more complicated and the declared state of emergency in the country related to the spread of COVID-19, a dire need of providing home services proves necessary on the territory of the community. The project activities which will be carried out aim at improving the quality of life and social inclusion of people with disabilities and the elderly people by providing home-based services; on the other hand, building adequate capacity to provide these activities seems also indispensable. The project realization will support the enforced measures during the state of emergency by facilitating the access to services by the vulnerable, disabled people or quarantined citizens through the implementation of activities closely related to the health preservation of people at greater risk of infestation with COVID-19. In view of the prescribed anti-epidemic measures and the restrictions of movement of people, the priorities of our community are related to the provision of food, consumables and other necessities, incl. medicines, payment of household bills, requesting and receiving urgent administrative services. The provision of the above mentioned services will be carried out by purposely hired personnel. The service users will call a previously announced phone number at a call centre. The requests received will be sorted out by the employee at the call centre and allocated to the staff directly involved in the execution of the services. Personal protective equipment and disinfectants will be provided to protect the health and ensure safe working conditions of the staff.
